Chinese Traditional Clothing

For classical Chinese attire, man is wearing a Chinese satin Samfoo intricately woven with Chinese motif matched with trousers. The maiden is wearing a modern red Cheongsam with exquisite design woven with motif symbolizing prosperity. These outfits are usually made from soft materials such as silk or satin.


For Baba & Nyonya, they actually from combination of chinese and malay bloodline that occur during long time ago before Malacca are taken by Portugal. For man, their cloth still like former type of chinese attire. But for women, they wear Kebaya Nyonya.

Malay Traditional Clothing



Actually, the traditional clothing for Malay in Malaysia are not such complex as others. Therefore, traditional people like to wear it on doing their daily work life. For man, actually there are 2 type of dress named Baju Melayu Cekak Musang and Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga. The different between both are where they are from and the appearance itself. Both can be matched with a hand woven songket sarong with floral design and a headgear known Tanjak. 


The lady is beautifully dressed in a flowery songket Baju Kurung Telok Belanga matched with a sarong neatly tied in the ombak mengalun technique or translated as flowing waves. The outfit is complemented with a shawl. For some place like Kedah, Kebaya will be their traditional outfit. basically, dress for women will be based on their work and status.
